MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses radio waves and a strong magnetic field rather than xrays. These sectional images provide a clear and detailed picture of internal organs and tissues. All MRI's require the removal of metal snaps or zippers. Also jewelery and body piercings are removed before entering the scan room.
MRI's are scheduled through your physicians' office. Most insurances require prior authorization before scheduling the procedure, so please check with your physicians' office for insurance coverage. Please register at the outpatient registration office located at the main entrance to the hospital. If you have any questions, call 814 260-5265.
Patients having a pacemaker are not allowed in the scanner.
