A computed tomography (CT) scan is a simple, safe, and painless examination that produces a series of images that can detect many conditions that do not show up on conventional xrays.  A thin beam of xrays are focused on a specifice part of the body, such as the head, chest, spine or body.  The xray tube moves around the site aquiring the needed information.  Some CT Scans require fasting as well as blood testing prior to the procedure.  Please check with your physician for proper instructions.

CT's are scheduled through your physicians' office.  Most insurances require prior authorization before scheduling the procedure, so please check with your physicians' office for insurance coverage.  Please register at the outpatient registration office located at the main entrance to the hospital.  If you have any questions, call 274-9301 extention 1273.
