PATIENT SAFETY ROUNDS

Patient Safety Leadership Rounding is an important component of our broader patient safety program. The Rev. Randy Headley, CCMH board member, and Lucy Lajcsak, patient safety officer, round on a regular basis to speak with staff about patient safety in the various departments of the hospital, such as the medical/surgical units, ancillary services, and the rural health clinics. Rounding provides an informal means for leadership to speak with frontline staff about safety concerns. Rounding is a way to demonstrate the board of directors' commitment to patient safety; provide opportunities for the board of directors to learn about patient safety issues from staff; identify opportunities for improving patient safety; educate staff about patient safety concepts, such as event reporting, and build communication and relationships with staff.
