From our patients...
October 2009 I
am happy to write you this letter commending staff members of Charles
Cole Memorial Hospital for their care and treatment I received when I
broke both my wrists this past summer. First, however, I'd like to
mention that when my husband and I were deciding in 1995 whether to
retire to Potter County from the Pittsburgh area, having a hospital
near was a major consideration. During our retirement home
building phase, we were met with some citizen disillusionment with the
hospital. Nevertheless, we retired to Potter County with my 82-year-old
mother in 2002. Since then, all of us have watched the hospital change
and improve. All of us have used the hospital services extensively and
are grateful for its service to the community.
When I broke both
wrists, I was devastated with its life changing consequences. However,
from my initial treatment in the emergency room, to the surgery and
rehabilitation therapy later, I have nothing but high praise for your
staff and facility. First, Dr. Terrance Foust counseled me on my
options and we decided on surgery for one wrist. Dr. Foust gave a
pre-op explanation of what he was going to do and patiently listened to
and addressed our questions and concerns. His demeanor throughout gave
us confidence and assurance.
One incident worth mentioning, is
while I was in therapy, Dr. Foust stopped by, totally unexpected, and
checked on my progress. This would have never happened in a Pittsburgh
hospital. Throughout the long rehabilitation process, Dr. Foust
continued to give caring and competent direction to me. His warmth and
care for his patients in unmatched in my experience.
During the
rehabilitation therapy, I have to mention the dedicated services of
Aaron Wonderly and Lisa Pitrie. Each was dedicated and competent and
gave me continued hope that someday my hands would return to normal
functioning. They are. I also have to mention that Aaron even requested
to attend a post-op examination with Dr. Foust and me to make sure that
nothing fell through the cracks between doctor and therapist. Again,
professional dedication that is uncommon in larger hospitals. Potter
County residents can be very proud of the rehabilitation center under
the supervision of Colleen F. White.
Finally, it is our
experience that all employees of CCMH are friendly, helpful and
dedicated to their jobs. From the nursing staff, receptionists,
assistants, and volunteers, to the general appearance of the hospital
grounds and its sparkling interior, one gets the impression of an
organization primed for success. We send kudos to you and your staff.
Keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Darlene Jack, Coudersport, PA *********************************************** August 2009 I
wanted to contact you regarding excellent care from MS3 staff and Dr.
Tronetti. I have been a patient of Dr. Tronetti’s from when he first
started his practice, and he still amazes me with his knowledge and
compassionate care for his patients’ well being.
Dr. Tronetti
is an exceptional doctor. He listens to his patients and does what is
best for them. He personally talks to my specialist at UPMC and works
with him to see that I have the best care available. I find this
is what makes him unique along with some of the nurses on MS3 at the
hospital.
I was just discharged after a weeks stay at CCMH.
Words cannot express the gratitude I have toward Dr. Tronetti and a few
special nurses on the 3rd floor. As time goes by, I find it is the
little things in life that make a difference, and I hope this letter
will mean something to someone. These people have influenced my life
and made it easier to recover, and I want to recognize their hard work.
The
staff at CCMH is just as capable of helping me recover as the staff at
UPMC. For a small community hospital, I think this is a true asset to
our community. Besides having Dr. Tronetti work with the doctors, the
staff on the 3rd floor is wonderful. They go out of their way to make
you feel as comfortable as possible. It’s never easy being a patient,
but having a caring staff makes it so much easier.
This
past week, I was in reverse isolation. My family could not see me
everyday, and the only contact I had with the world was the doctors and
the staff. It was quite lonely, but I finally got the chance to rest
and manage my pain that I needed so badly. Because this was my third
time in a year, I am known as a “frequent flyer” as some nurses like to
call it. Several of the nurses/aides remembered me from prior stays,
and welcomed me. One nurse, I believe her name is Robin stopped on
several occasions to see how I was doing even though I was never
assigned to her during this stay. You would never get that extra
attention from a big city hospital. She even brought me a list of
movies that they kept at the nurses’ station to help me pass the time.
ALL
of the staff were great. However, two of the nurses that treated me,
really stand out, and they were Lorrie and Kara. I am not sure of their
last names, but they know who they are. They both treated me during my
last two visits, and each time they truly make a difference in my
recovery. Not only do they treat me medically, but emotionally, which
in my eyes is just as important, if not, more important. They seem to
go out of their way to make sure I am comfortable, and
actually talk to me like I am a real person. These two nurses are
very special, and I thought it was important that they know how
appreciative I am. Yes, I thanked both of them, but I wanted the
hospital to know they are exceptional. Jamie Martin, Smethport, PA *********************************************** June 2009
My
family and I would like to thank everyone who works at Charles Cole
Memorial Hospital for their professionalism and courtesy. During
my recent hip replacement surgery; all personnel associated with me did
an outstanding job-in a friendly way. I appreciate it so much and
just wanted to let you know. Thanks.
Wesley Mattison, Wellsville, NY *********************************************** April 2009
I just wanted you to know how pleased I was with my recent hip replacement surgery.
Right
from the start at the orientation meeting Bonnie, Nichole and Meghan
have a well presented and informative overview of what was to be
expected. [Joint Venture program for pre-operative orthopedic
patients]
The
staff throughout the time spent in the hospital was friendly and
efficient. The overall atmosphere was very good and the
facilities were clean and pleasant.
In
closing, I would just add, the in home nursing service is a real
benefit to the whole hospital experience. Again, the nurses and
physical therapist could not have been better.
You can be very proud of Charles Cole Memorial Hospital.
With best personal regards, Henry Lush, Galeton, PA ***********************************************
