Area Students Display Artwork at CCMH
June 19, 2008
Recent Coudersport High School graduates Heather Chilson, Lindsey Francis, and Naomi Keller have a variety of artwork on display at Charles Cole Memorial Hospitals IMAC Connecting Link as part of the hospitals Community Art Showcase.
The girls, who each plan to pursue art-related careers, are excited to share their work with the community. Francis, who plans to study fine arts at Clarion University, enjoys producing a variety of art which she said are very personal and relate to what she is feeling at the time.
Chilson, who will attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to study interior design, agrees that her work is very personal and said that she enjoys sharing her work with others and “having people feel how I feel when I made it.”
Keller will study graphic design at Harrisburg Area Community College. “I want people to see what I can do and for others to view and enjoy my work. As long as they enjoy it, I’m happy,” she said.
Sarah Batson, art teacher at CHS, was happy to have the girls art showcased. They have worked together in high school and plan to take their art to the next level in college, she said. “I am all for taking art out of the school and into the community. People need to see what the students are doing,” she said.
The project began in February and has featured artists Pat Bosworth of Port Allegany and Alyson Leach of Galeton, according to chairperson Betty Wei. Artists are featured for about six to eight weeks. “It is a way for area residents to enjoy the talent and creativity of local artists and the hospital family is thrilled to make this opportunity possible,” she said.
